# Send emails from your Lovable app with Brevo

## Overview

Lovable includes built-in **Lovable Emails** for standard transactional messages (signup confirmations, password resets, receipts). Use the **Brevo connector** instead when your app needs branded or high-volume sending, marketing campaigns, contact lists and segmentation, SMS/WhatsApp, or lifecycle automation — or when your team already manages messaging in Brevo.

The connector is available as an app + chat connector: one connection that works both while you're building in the Lovable chat and in your published app.

## Prerequisites

* A Brevo account
* A Brevo REST API key (starts with `xkeysib-`)
* Permission to create connections in your Lovable workspace (on Enterprise plans, an admin must enable this first)

## Connect Brevo to Lovable

### Create a Brevo API key

1. Sign in to Brevo, click **Settings** (gear icon) in the left sidebar, then open **SMTP & API > API keys & MCP** (direct link: [app.brevo.com/settings/keys/api](https://app.brevo.com/settings/keys/api)).
2. Click **+ Generate API key**, name it descriptively (e.g. `Lovable integration`).
3. Choose the permissions the key needs (transactional email, contacts, SMS, etc.) and click **Generate**.
4. Copy and store the key securely — you can't view it again later.

> **Tip**
>
> This tab also offers **Activate for API keys**, which restricts API calls to a list of authorized IPs (**Security > Authorized IPs**). Skip this if Lovable's outbound IPs aren't static/allowlistable; otherwise it's a good hardening step.

### Connect Brevo in Lovable

1. Open **Connectors** in your Lovable dashboard and select **Brevo**.
2. Click **Add connection**.
3. Give the connection a display name (e.g. `Brevo Prod`) and paste your API key.
4. Under **Sharing**, decide whether the connection stays private to you or is shared with the workspace.
5. Click **Connect** — Lovable verifies the key against the Brevo API before saving it.

You can create multiple connections with different keys to separate environments (dev/prod) or permission levels.

### Link the connection to your project

Anyone building in a project can ask Lovable, in the project chat, to link the project to your Brevo connection. Then describe the flow you want, for example:

> *Use Brevo and send an order confirmation email after checkout, with the order number and total.*

Lovable wires the app event to a Brevo email send using the linked connection.

### Test it

Trigger the flow (place a test order, sign up a test user) and confirm the message arrives, then check the send in **Brevo > Transactional > Email logs**.

## Limitations to know about

* The connector can't receive incoming Brevo webhooks — poll Brevo's events API instead, or point a Brevo webhook at an endpoint outside Lovable.
* Credentials don't auto-rotate; to rotate, generate a new Brevo API key and update the Lovable connection.
* SMS/WhatsApp sends only work if those channels are enabled (with available credits) on your Brevo account.
* Each connection maps to a single Brevo account, shared by every project linked to it.
